In this Self-Assessment I reveal the process of writing my Literacy Narrative essay. I talk about the struggles that I faced and the aspects where I felt I did a good job.
When the Literary Narrative essay was assigned, I was struggling with it because of the lack of topics. Being confused if I should quit my job or not worked as my exigence. I came with the idea of writing for my confusion and I compared myself with Hamlet. Since confusion is a common problem, it would be easy for my audience to understand it. Even though there are parts that can be improved in my narrative, the outcome of my essay was satisfying.
My strong aspects in the Literary Narrative are pros and cons of quitting the job and how I changed as a person after starting to work at ZARA. Also, explaining Hamlet’s impact on me. However, there is a lack of evidences that support my connection with Hamlet, which I could have worked more on. Since my narrative is a common problem, my audience is everyone struggling with the same problem, confusion. The purpose of my Narrative essay is to persuade my experience to my pathos and make them realize no matter what they are going through there is always someone supporting them.
Peer reviewing was one of the most helpful parts in writing my Narrative because it helped me realize what I should change on my writing to improve my essay. The use of technology, email and blackboard, kept me in touch with my group and made my job more efficient. However, something I should work more is my grammar. By being new to English language I struggle with its grammar, but eventually I will overcome it.
The inability of expressing my feelings and thoughts into words don’t make the Literary Narrative my strongest. I look forward to learn from my mistakes in this essay and improve my writing skills. Hopefully my future assignments will be more efficient and have a higher level of writing and complexity.
